Forgiveness is the fragrance that the violet sheds on the heal that has crushed it.~ Mark Twain

act of forgiving; state of being forgiven.
disposition or willingness to forgive. -

Forgiveness is typically defined as the process of concluding resentment, indignation or anger as a result of a perceived offense, difference or mistake, and/or ceasing to demand punishment or restitution - wikipedia

Mark 11:25 And whenever you make a prayer, let there be forgiveness in your hearts, if you have anything against anyone; so that you may have forgiveness for your sins from your Father who is in heaven.

Ephesians 4:32 And be kind to one another, full of pity, having forgiveness for one another, even as God in Christ had forgiveness for you.

Colossians 3:13 Being gentle to one another and having forgiveness for one another, if anyone has done wrong to his brother, even as the Lord had forgiveness for you.

We humans can talk the talk of forgiveness but do we practice it?
I will admit that when someone has done me wrong, annoyed me, hurt me or hurt others that my first reaction is anger. However, if the anger continues to brew then it becomes very harmful. Continued anger causes sin whether its in thoughts or actions. God tells us to get rid of that anger as soon as possible. It is not up to us to seek revenge on those who have hurt us. We are not the judge and jury. We must lay down our anger and ask Him to help us forgive.
Eph 4:26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath.

How can we forgive so quickly and easily?
Instead of looking within ourselves to learn how,
we must seek God regarding it. In all things we must pray.
Spend time praying about any issues where you need to forgive others, where you might be holding some grudge against them. Ask for God's help with this.

We should remind ourselves that the former us would have handled things differently.
However, we are not who we used to be. Seeking old worldly habits for resolutions is the wrong way. We are a new creation.
2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

Here is a wonderful video about forgiveness and how we are new in Christ.

Each day we are pruned by God. Each day we learn more from Him.
No one will ever reach the point to say that they have learned all
that there is to learn. So, seek Him daily and pray
for Him to bless you with wisdom.

Philippians  3:13-14
13Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, 14I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

  1. Very good words about forgiveness. It's so important and sometimes so hard to practice. But I'm learning that with practice it will get easier and easier. Thank God He promises to take care of us so we don't have to hold on to unforgiveness. Thanks for the great reminders!

  2. You're welcome Renee! :)

I look forward to your comments!
